BAUsmart2021 – New Startup Award for ConstructionTech

Digitalization is making its way into the construction industry. Key drivers of innovation are startups with creative ideas, new business models, ingenious gadgets, and novel building products. For this reason, the German Construction Industry Federation (HDB), buildingSMART Germany (bSD), and the German Association for Digital Construction (BDBau) are jointly launching the new startup award “BAUsmart2021.” The award ceremony will take place on June 10, 2021, during the Construction Industry Day, and will be presented by Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy Peter Altmaier, who has also assumed patronage of the new award.

The BAUsmart2021 award evaluates new digital solutions for planning, construction, and operation. The jury will primarily assess the business model, innovative strength, and creativity. In addition to the jury prize, the BAUsmart2021 also features a public award. For this, the most innovative solutions for the future of construction will also be evaluated by visitors to the BAUINDUSTRIE Day. The winners will each receive €3,000 in prize money, a one-year membership in the German Association for Digital Construction (Bundesverband Digitales Bauwesen e.V.), comprehensive communication packages from the German Construction Industry Federation (Hauptverband der Deutschen Bauindustrie e.V.) and buildingSMART e.V., plus a startup booth at digitalBAU 2022 in Cologne and the TECH IN CONSTRUCTION startup fair in Berlin.

Participation costs €200 plus VAT (€500 for corporate startups) and includes a video presentation and a virtual booth at the DAY OF THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY. The deadline for applications is May 21, 2021. Participation is free for BDBau members.
